3. The value of science
Ngày xưa, con người không được hưởng một đời sống dễ chịu và tiện nghi như bây giờ. Bị cô độc ở giữa tạo hóa đầy bí mật, họ luôn luôn khiếp sợ trước những hiện tượng kỳ quái và những tai ương tàn khóc.
In ancient times, human beings did not enjoy a pleasant and comfortable life as of today. Being alone (isolated) in a fully-mysterious nature, they were always afraid of unuasual phenomena and terrible catastrophes. 
Vì không học, họ nghĩ rằng tất cả những phát hiện kia nguyên do ở sự biến thiên thình lình của những vị thần khó tính.
Without education (scientific knowledge), they thought that all of these phenomena were from a sudden transformation created by hand tempered genii.
Ngày nay, chúng ta không nô lệ tạo hóa nữa. Trái lại, chúng ta chế ngự tạo hóa, vì chúng ta đã ngày càng tìm thấy những bí mật của thiên nhiên. Khoa học đã cưỡng bách mặt trời thành một nghệ sĩ phục con người. Khoa học đã phát sinh ra máy móc biến đêm thành ngày. Khoa học đã kéo dài đời sống con người.
Nowadays, we are no longer slaves of nature. On the contrary, we can dominate it, because we have discovered more and more of its mysteries. Science has compelled the sun to be and artist serving humans. Science has invented machines capable of changing night into day. Science helps man live longer.

7. Phải tuân theo pháp luật 7. We must obey the law      Có pháp luật thì trong nước mới bình yên, nhân dân mới được vui vẻ mà làm ăn.. Pháp luật đặt ra vì lợi ích chung cho mọi người. Nếu không có pháp luật thì không thành xã hội được. Only when the law is enforced can a country be peaceful and its people enjoy their work and life. The law is established for the common benefit. Without law, society cannot be formed.  Nhờ có nhà nước đặt ra pháp luật, đem pháp luật thi hành, phân xử mọi việc, trừng trị những kẻ gian ác, trộm cướp thì tính mạng, của cải và danh dự của chúng ta mới không sợ bị ai xâm phạm đến. Nhờ pháp luật thì việc cày cấy, buôn bán và mở mang đường xá  mới được tốt đẹp; nói tóm lại, nhờ có pháp luật mọi nguwoif mới được yên tâm làm ăn. 20. Đêm đông 20. Winter night Trời rét như cắt. Mưa rả rich. Gió thổi mạnh, cành là chuyển động ào ào. Ở bên ngoài, tối đen như mực. Thực là một cảnh tiêu điều buồn bã.  It is piercingly cold.
