Những bông lúa vàng mới cắt xong đều xếp rải rác từng hang trên bở ruộng trong đám cỏ xanh và dầy. Mỗi khi gặt được vài lượm lúa, người thợ hái ôm sát bó lúa them vào người, đem ra xếp vào chỗ lúa trước.
The newly golden ears of rice were arranged in sporadic rows on the edge of the rice-paddy fields, amid green and thick grass. Every time, after reaping a few handfuls of rice stalks, the reaper held the bundle of rice close to him, and carried it away to line it with the previous ones.
Rồi họ lại trở vào ruộng đứng theo hàng với những người bạn gặt. Tiếng lưỡi hái đưa vào gốc lúa soàn soạt như tiếng bò ăn cỏ.
Then, they returned to the rice-fields and stood in line with their fellow reaper s. The bustling sound made by the scythes cutting the rice stalks reminded us of the grazing of cattle.

20. Đêm đông 20. Winter night Trời rét như cắt. Mưa rả rich. Gió thổi mạnh, cành là chuyển động ào ào. Ở bên ngoài, tối đen như mực. Thực là một cảnh tiêu điều buồn bã.  It is piercingly cold.
