Đám trẻ con nô đùa ở ngoài sân. Một bà lão ở trên hè chống gậy bước xuống rồi nói: “ Các cháu đừng cãi nhau, đánh nhau, đứa nào không nghe thì bà giận”.
A group of children were playing in the ground. An old woman, leaning against a stick, stepped down from the verandah and said: “My dear, please don’t quarrel and fight each other; I will be angry if you don’t obey me.”
Đang lúc ấy, một người đàn ông ở ngoài cổng đi vào. Đám trẻ reo lên: “A! Cha đã về”. Người đàn ông đến trước mặt bà lão, hai bàn tay đưa lên một gói bánh và nói rằng: “ Thưa mẹ, con đi chợ đã về.”
At the moment, a man came in through the gate. The group of children shouted: “Oh! Father is back home”. The man came before the old woman and took a parcel of cakes with both hands and gave it to her, saying: “Mother, I have just com from market”.
Bà lão cầm lấy gói bánh, sắp chia cho các cháu, thì đám trẻ nhao nhao lên nói rằng: “ Bà cho cháu!” Một ông lão tươi cười ở trong nhà bước ra hỏi: “ Làm gì mà vui thế?” Anh cả (anh hai) đi rửa mặt và rửa tay đi. Chị cả (chị hai) đâu, dọn cơm cho anh ấy ăn”.
The old woman took the parcel and was going to distribute it to her grandchildren, they noisily sai: “Give me some, grandma”. A smiling old amn came out from the house and asked: “what is that so cheerful?” My (eldest) son, go and wash your face and hands. My daughter-in-law, prepare the meal for him”.

Xa nữa là dãy núi Tam Đảo, màu lam nhạt đứng sừng sững to tát, nguy nga, ngọn núi mù mù lẫn trong làn mây xám.
